Introducing kids to the dental practice at an early age is recommended. A positive experience at an early age begins the preparation for having regular checkups. Starting at the age of two is an ideal time as baby teeth can be all erupted.

Having a ride in the chair during Mum / Dad / sibling’s appointment is a typical first experience at the Practice. This might be repeated until a young child feels comfortable enough to have an examination. Preventative dental care is routinely provided, it includes emphasis upon a healthy diet, avoidance of sweetened drinks and regular brushing.

At the first examination the dentist will always look for signs of

  • healthy teeth.
  • any  dental weaknesses or abnormalities
  •  if seal fillings are required
  • answer queries /discuss any issues parents may have about dental care

Selective radiography for normal eruption patterns of adult teeth may be advised.
